“On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...” We all know the Christmas song, but I’m changing it up a bit. My song is called the “12 Practices of the Holidays”. Even if you do not celebrate Christmas, perhaps you celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or something else, these practices will work for you. I hope you enjoy!
Day 7
The seventh practice of the Holidays is—PRACTICE GENEROSITY. When people think of being generous, the first thought that comes to mind is monetary. Don’t get me wrong, someone being generous with money is great, but spending time with you is more of a gift to your family and friends, and yes, pets, too. Even the definition of generosity states being liberal in giving or sharing; unselfish. Giving and sharing is basically the theme of the season, but what a great world it would be if this wasn’t just earmarked for the holidays. Remember those all year that need a helping hand. You will also be rewarded by the feeling of being generous.
